Description: The Bears have signed Olindo Mare to replace Robbie Gould.
Insight: The 39-year-old Mare kicked for Carolina last season, going 22-for-28 in field goal tries and 44-for-45 on extra point attempts. He's not going to get you many 50-yard field goals as he's attempted just four over the past three seasons, making one of them.

Description: My Northwest.com reports Mare (hamstring) has been held out of practice the past two days with a left hamstring injury.
Insight: The injury is not to Mare's kicking leg, so he should be able to go on Sunday against Atlanta. For what that's worth. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Seahawks.com reports Mare has made all 104 of his kicks during minicamps and OTAs this offseason.
Insight: This news does not seem to matter much, but at least it appears the chronically inconsistent Mare has shown some consistency. The Seahawks' offense isn't likely to make him a strong fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: Mare missed two field goals in Sunday's loss to Chicago.
Insight: Seattle head coach Jim Mora called Mare's performance "absolutely not acceptable", so his job security may be tenuous at best. (SportsBuff.com)

6/17/2009 2:50:00 AM
Description: Mare made 24-of-27 field goals and 30 extra points for Seattle last season.
Insight: It was a disappointing season for Mare who did not see many chances with the offense struggling without starting QB Matt Hasselbeck. If he can stay healthy, Mare should have a much better season in 2009. Even so, he should remain on waivers. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: Mare connected on a 50 yard field goal in Seattle?s Week 6 loss to Green Bay. He also connected on two extra points.
