Report: Top draft prospect Embiid injures foot

(SportsNetwork.com) - Joel Embiid suffered a right foot injury and is unlikely to work out for any more teams before next week's NBA Draft, according to a report.

Embiid's agent, Arn Tellem, told ESPN.com the injury occurred "sometime over the last few days" and that they would know more after Embiid is evaluated by doctors.

A source told the website Embiid "may have broken" his foot.

The 7-foot former Kansas center is a top draft prospect, expected by many to be picked No. 1 by Cleveland, or at worst in the second or third spot by Milwaukee or Philadelphia.

Embiid, a freshman from Cameroon, missed Kansas' final two regular season games, the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament because of a stress fracture in his lower back.

Still, he broke the Jayhawks' freshman record with 72 blocked shots and was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 28 games while helping the Jayhawks to the Big 12 regular-season crown.
