Teletovic leads Nets past Mavericks
Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Mirza Teletovic scored 24 of his career- high 34 points in the second quarter and the streaking Brooklyn Nets held on to beat the Dallas Mavericks 107-106 on Friday.
The Nets got their fourth straight win and ninth in their last 10 games with Teletovic providing the hot hand.
In just one quarter he surpassed his previous career-high of 19 points, making his first six 3-point attempts in the second as the Nets build a double-digit lead.
Dallas was within two points when Dirk Nowitzki missed the second of two free throws on purpose with 7.1 seconds left in the game. Andrei Kirilenko secured the rebound for Brooklyn and made two foul shots at the other end to seal the win. Monta Ellis hit a 3 at the buzzer for the final margin.
Deron Williams had 18 points and 11 assists coming off the bench again for the Nets, who have won seven in a row at home.
Kevin Garnett added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the victory and Paul Pierce scored 12, though he missed two foul shots down the stretch to put Brooklyn in a precarious position.
Vince Carter scored 19 points to lead Dallas and Nowitzki had 18. The Mavs went 1-2 on a three-game road trip and lost for the fourth time in their last six.
