Description: Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker takes tough-luck loss to Toronto on Wednesday.
Insight: In a must-win game for Seattle, Walker did his part. The only run he let up in eight innings of work was a two-out bloop RBI double (came in the 8th inning) to Ryan Goins. Walker falls to 2-3 on the year with a healthy 2.61 ERA.

Description: Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker will start on Friday against the Astros.
Insight: He is starting in place of Roenis Elias, who is likely done for the year with elbow issues. Walker has pitched 24 1/3 innings in three starts and three relief appearances and has a 2.96 ERA this season. He is a worthy flier on Friday.

9/1/2014 2:05:00 PM
Description: Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker has been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
Insight: The 21-year-old Walker has a 3.60 ERA, but control issues keep him from being a every fifth day option. He's walked 13 in 15 innings this season. It's unknown how the Mariners will use him the rest of the way.

Description: Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker allowed just two hits in five innings Wednesday against the Mets, but he walked six batters and hit Ruben Tejada in the head with a pitch.
Insight: Walker allowed two runs and struck out five in the loss. The prospect was demoted back to Triple-A after the game. With James Paxton expected back in early August and Erasmo Ramirez coming off a great start, it may be a while until Walker gets another chance with the Mariners. This will likely go down as a lost season for the 21-year-old, who missed the first two and a half months with shoulder inflammation.

Insight: Seattle pushed back Hisashi Iwakuma and Felix Hernandez one day each, so they need a spot starter Wednesday and Walker was on schedule to start Wednesday for Triple-A. If he pitches well, the prospect could remain in the rotation ahead of Erasmo Ramirez, who will start Tuesday in the fifth rotation spot. However, James Paxton (lat) is nearing his return and could take that spot.

Insight: Erasmo Ramirez will be recalled to start Tuesday against the Mets. Walker is scheduled to start Wednesday for Triple-A Tacoma, so he would make sense for a call-up.

7/17/2014 3:42:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker's next start for Triple-A Tacoma has been pushed back from Thursday to Friday, which knocks him off schedule to reclaim the fifth starter spot Tuesday against the Mets.
Insight: "Taijuan just needs a little more time," Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik said. "He got up here this year, fairly quick (after completing his rehab from a shoulder injury). That was, more or less, out of necessity. What we'd like to do is have Taijuan get a few more games under his belt." This is a frustrating development for fantasy owners who waited patiently for Walker to make his 2014 debut on June 30 after he missed the entire season to that point with shoulder inflammation.

7/9/2014 5:08:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.
Insight: Walker has allowed four runs and walked seven batters in 10 innings so far after missing the entire season due to a shoulder injury. He'll probably be back with the Mariners shortly after the All-Star break. If he makes two starts for Tacoma he'll be on track to start Seattle's sixth game of the second half.

6/30/2014 10:52:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) gave up three runs on five hits over six innings in his 2014 debut Monday at Houston.
Insight: Walker missed the entire season to this point with a shoulder injury. He gave up a mammoth two-run homer to George Springer in the first inning and a solo shot to Marwin Gonzalez in the second, but he settled down for the next four innings. Walker is one of the top prospects in the game and should be owned in all leagues.

6/29/2014 9:29:00 AM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) is expected to start on Monday versus Houston.
Insight: Fantasy owners have waited a long time for Walker to be fully healthy and the time is now. Facing the Astros, who rank 26th in scoring at just 3.73 rpg, is one of the better ways to return to the hill. Make sure he's activated and in Monday's starting lineup.

6/10/2014 5:19:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) has been activated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A.
Insight: Walker made three rehab starts with Triple-A Tacoma and is fully healthy after dealing with a shoulder injury since spring training but the Mariners must think he isn't ready to join the rotation yet. He should be called up soon.

6/4/2014 5:51:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) walked four batters over two innings in his rehab start Tuesday night and won't return to the Mariners' rotation yet.
Insight: Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said Walker will make at least one more rehab start, "if not more." It's disappointing news for fantasy owners who expected Tuesday's outing to be Walker's final rehab outing, but at least his shoulder is healthy.

5/20/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) threw a simulated game Tuesday and didn't have any issues, according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune.
Insight: Walker has been dealing with shoulder soreness since spring training and suffered a setback on April 15. He'll throw another simulated game in a few days and should be back with the M's in a few weeks.

5/17/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: Seattle right-hander Taijuan Walker (shoulder) threw 55 pitches in a bullpen session Sunday and said it went well, according to Greg Johns of mlb.com.
Insight: Walker has been dealing with shoulder soreness since spring training and was scratched from what was supposed to be his final rehab start on April 15 due to renewed discomfort. He'll throw a simulated game Tuesday.

5/10/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Seattle starter Taijuan Walker (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune.
Insight: Walker was scratched from what was supposed to be his final rehab start on April 15 due to renewed shoulder stiffness and hasn't stepped back on a mound yet. He'll probably need a couple of successful bullpen sessions before he goes back on a rehab assignment.

4/23/2014 5:12:00 PM
Description: Seattle starting pitcher Taijuan Walker (shoulder) will play catch on Monday, according to Greg Johns of mlb.com.
Insight: Walker was scratched from what was supposed to be his final rehab start due to a setback with his sore shoulder, so he's basically back to step one in the rehab process.

Description: Seattle starting pitcher Taijuan Walker will be shut down for the next two weeks after feeling stiffness in his shoulder warming up before Tuesday's rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma. SOURCE: Bob Dutton, Tacoma News Tribune
Insight: That's not what the Mariners wanted to hear. Walker sported a nifty 3.60 ERA in three starts last season but has yet to pitch at the big league level in 2014.

4/15/2014 8:15:00 PM
Description: Mariners RHP Taijuan Walker was scratched from his rehab start on Tuesday due to a stiffness in his shoulder, according to Greg Johns of mlb.com. He had trouble getting loose prior to the game.
Insight: Walker has been making good progress in his recovery from the shoulder discomfort he dealt with during spring training and was in line to rejoin the Mariners after Tuesday's start, but this will set him back into May if not longer.

4/9/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Mariners starter Taijuan Walker (shoulder) struck out 10 batters over five innings during his rehab start with Double-A Jackson Wednesday. SOURCE: Greg Johns, mlb.com
Insight: He threw 84 pitches, allowed three hits, walked one and gave up zero runs. Walker could be ready to return to the M's after this outing.

4/5/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said that Taijuan Walker (shoulder) could be back in 10 days, according to Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle.
Insight: That's earlier than expected. Walker threw 72 pitches in his first rehab start Friday and should get 85-90 in his next one.
