Description: The Padres have acquired infielder Pedro Ciriaco from Boston.
Insight: Ciriaco was DFA'd earlier in the week to make room for Will Middlebrooks. He's fast and he should have eligibility at multiple positions. With Jedd Gyorko sidelined with a groin injury and Everth Cabrera waiting to hear about a possible PED suspension, Ciriaco (.216, 1 HR, 4 RBI) couldn't have asked for a more favorable fantasy situation.

Description: According to Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe, at least three teams are interested in acquiring Red Sox third baseman Pedro Ciriaco.
Insight: The emergence of Jose Iglesias (.449 AVG this season) made Ciriaco expendable and the team eventually designated him for assignment on Monday. Cafardo wasn't specific about who was interested but Ciriaco (.216, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 28 games) should have a new team soon.

Description: The Red Sox designated third baseman Pedro Ciriaco for assignment on Monday.
Insight: Ciriaco finds himself as the odd man out in Boston's crowded infield. He's a .287 lifetime hitter with good speed (16 steals last year) so he shouldn't have trouble catching on with another team.

Description: With Will Middlebrooks set to come off the disabled list this Saturday, the Red Sox will soon have to make an important roster decision.
Insight: Jose Iglesias (.431, 1 HR, 7 RBI) has been spectacular while filling in for Middlebrooks and deserves to stay in the major leagues. Meanwhile, Pedro Ciriaco (.234, 1 HR, 4 RBI) has struggled at the plate and he's been a major liability defensively (seven errors in 25 games). The Red Sox haven't made an official announcement yet but we're guessing Ciriaco will be the odd man out when Middlebrooks is activated. He could be sent down to Triple-A.

Description: Boston third baseman Pedro Ciriaco belted three hits Saturday in a win over Cleveland.
Insight: That raises his season average from .175 to .227. Ciriaco should see regular at bats while Will Middlebrooks is on the disabled list.

Cold5/8/2013 6:22:00 PM
Description: With Will Middlebrooks battling sore ribs, Pedro Ciriaco will get the start at third base Wednesday against Minnesota.
Insight: Ciriaco had a nice year at the plate last season (.293 in 259 at bats) but is off to a slow start in 2013 (.240, 0 HR in 13 games). He's also had a tough time in the field (four errors).

Description: Boston infielder Pedro Ciriaco is hitless in six at-bats against Rays left-hander David Price and should not be in the lineup on Tuesday.
Insight: Ciriaco has done a fine job since arriving in Boston with a .294 batting average in 68 games, but this matchup should be avoided. Sit him and take a flier on Danny Valencia if the latter is in the lineup.

Cold9/11/2012 9:43:00 AM
Description: Boston infielder Pedro Ciriaco is hitless in seven at-bats against Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda.
Insight: Ciriaco had been an excellent mid-season replacement waiver claim batting over .320 in July and August, but he's spiraled downward in September with just three hits in 27 at-bats. He should currently be holding down a spot on your bench.

Hot8/26/2012 6:41:00 PM
Description: Boston infielder Pedro Ciriaco has posted a .360 batting average in 136 at-bats this season.
Insight: Ciriaco is 17-for-35 (.486) in his last eight games, including two four-hit contests and a three-hit game Sunday. Ciriaco should continue to see plenty of playing time at third base so give him a try while he's hot.

Description: Boston utility player Pedro Ciriaco's RBI triple in the ninth inning lifted the Red Sox to an 8-6 win over the Yankees on Saturday. The triple was one of three hits on the night for Ciriaco.
Insight: Ciriaco has been impressive (.356, 0 HRs, 7 RBIs in 16 games this season) but he's not likely to see much playing time once David Ortiz (.316, 23 HRs, 58 RBIs) returns from the disabled list.
