A's activate Colon

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Oakland Athletics pitcher Bartolo Colon has been activated off the 15-day disabled list after recovering from a groin strain.

Colon last pitched on Aug. 13 and is slated to start Thursday's series-finale against Detroit. He owns a record of 14-5 with a 2.97 ERA in 24 starts this season.

The 40-year-old right-hander had struggled in two starts prior to landing on the DL, surrendering 10 earned runs on 14 hits over just 6 2/3 innings.

Right-hander Evan Scribner was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to open a roster spot. Scribner has no record with a 5.03 ERA in 13 relief appearances over four stints with the Athletics this season.
