Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Walden paced four teammates in double figures with 17 points, as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels downed the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, 84-76, in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
Glenn Cosey added 15 points for third-seeded EKU (22-9), which will play second-seeded Murray State in Friday's semifinals. Orlando Williams shot 4- of-4 from 3-point range for 14 points off the bench, while Tarius Johnson chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
For sixth-seeded SEMO (18-14), Jarekious Bradley poured in a game-high 18 points, Jamaal Calvin and Tyler Stone netted 17 points apiece and Nino Johnson tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
EKU carried a comfortable 39-25 lead into intermission after shooting a lofty 54.2 percent from the field in the first half. SEMO, meanwhile, made good on just 38.1 percent of its tries from the floor.
The Redhawks improved their field goal shooting in the second half (.533) and got to within six points of the lead late in the game, but the Colonels continued their hot shooting (.500) and made 21-of-26 at the free-throw line after halftime to hold on for the win.
The teams finished with the same amount of field goals (24) and 3-pointers (10), but the difference was made at the foul line, where EKU outscored SEMO, 26-18.
