Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Daveon Boardingham finished with 15 points on 7-of-7 from the field, as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles beat the East Carolina Pirates in a 60-46 rout in Conference USA action at Williams Arena.
Michael Craig registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (18-3, 5-1 C-USA), who extended their winning streak to four games. Jerrold Brooks and Neil Watson scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively, with Watson adding six assists.
Akeem Richmond had 18 points on 6-of-17 from beyond the arc to go with six boards and five assists for the Pirates (11-9, 0-5), who have lost five straight contests. Caleb White tallied 13 points for the hosts.
ECU shot 42.3 percent from the floor in the first period as they held a 30-23 lead at halftime. USM struggled and made just 34.6 percent of its field goal attempts, including 2-of-11 from beyond the arc.
The second half saw the Golden Eagles heat up and make 52 percent of their field goal tries, while the Pirates shot a miserable 20.8 percent from the field. Over the final 10 minutes, USM went on an 18-3 run to close out the game. ECU scored just 16 points the entire second frame.
USM won despite a disappointing 4-of-16 showing from 3-point range. ECU was active from beyond the arc, making 12-of-34.
