Albuquerque, NM (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendall Williams scored 28 points as the New Mexico Lobos took down the San Diego Toreros, 73-66, in a a non-conference affair at the Pit.
Williams hit all 16 of his shots from the free-throw line and Alex Kirk had a double-double (21 points, 11 rebounds) for New Mexico (5-1). Cameron Bairstow added 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
Johnny Dee sank four 3-pointers and tallied 25 points for San Diego (7-2). Duda Sanadze also had four triples and finished with 18 points while Christopher Anderson handed out 12 assists.
The Lobos managed a 32-30 edge at halftime after shooting 40.9 percent from the field, while holding San Diego to 37.9 percent, over the first 20 minutes.
After the break the Lobos again held a slim advantage in shooting, 44.4 percent to 42.4 percent, while nailing 14-of-15 tries from the free-throw line.
New Mexico owned a 40-26 edge on the boards. San Diego outscored the Lobos, 27-15, from beyond the arc.
