Gerrans grabs yellow jersey after his team wins time trial

Nice, France (Sports Network) - Simon Gerrans moved into the overall lead of the 100th Tour de France after his Australian team, Orica-GreenEdge, placed first in Stage 4's team time trial on Tuesday.

One day after capturing Stage 3, Gerrans and his cohorts completed the 25- kilometer route through Nice with a time of 25 minutes and 56 seconds.

Third at the intermediate check point, Orica-GreenEdge crossed the finish line one second ahead of Omega Pharma-Quick Step. Sky Procycling posted the third- best time another two seconds behind.

Gerrans, who started the day ranked third in the overall standings, one second behind Jan Bakelants, is the sixth Australian to wear the coveted yellow jersey. Following Gerrans in the standings are two more Orica-GreenEdge riders, Daryl Impey and Michael Albasini, who share the same time as Gerrans. The trio is one second ahead of Michal Kwiatkowski and Sylvain Chavanel.

Wednesday's fifth stage is a mostly flat 228.5-kilometer jaunt from Cagnes- sur-Mer to Marseille.
