Avs beat Roy's former team

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted 29 saves as the Colorado Avalanche gave head coach Patrick Roy a 4-1 win against his old team the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and an assist while PA Parenteau, Nathan MacKinnon and Ryan O'Reilly all lit the lamp for the Avalanche, who have won six straight after suffering their only loss of the season on Oct. 17 against Detroit.

Roy had spent his first 10-plus seasons with Montreal, which drafted him in the third round of the 1984 draft. He won a pair of Conn Smythe trophies and Stanley Cups while with Montreal before being traded to Colorado in December of 1995, winning a pair of Stanley Cups with the Avalanche and an NHL-record third Conn Smythe trophy.

Peter Budaj gave up three goals on 30 shots while Brendan Gallagher had the only goal of the game for the Canadiens, who have dropped their past two games.
