Eagles extend Barbre through 2017

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Eagles and Allen Barbre have agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep the versatile offensive lineman under team control through the 2017 season.

Primarily a journeyman over the course of his six-year NFL career, Barbre emerged as the Eagles' primary backup at both tackle spots while appearing in 15 games during his first season with the team in 2013.

"Allen has great versatility and his ability to play both outside and inside on the offensive line makes him so valuable to what we do," said Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. "He's been in this league for a number of years and we know we can count on him to step up and fill in whenever he is called upon."

Barbre entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of Green Bay in 2007 and started seven games for the Packers in 2009. The Missouri Southern State product has also previously played for Miami and Seattle.
