Raiders bring back S Young

Oakland, CA ( - The Oakland Raiders have re-signed safety Usama Young, the team announced Wednesday.

Young compiled 27 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and one interception over 12 games in a reserve role last season, his first with the Raiders after spending the previous two years with Cleveland. The seven-year veteran's 2013 campaign was cut short by a neck injury that landed him on injured reserve in early December.

The 28-year-old entered the NFL as a third-round pick of New Orleans in 2007 and played four seasons with the Saints under current Raiders head coach Dennis Allen, then the defensive backs coach of New Orleans.

Young has appeared in 93 overall NFL games with 25 starts, having recorded 209 tackles, eight interceptions, 24 passes defensed and five sacks over that span.
