Kubiak named Ravens' new offensive coordinator

Owings Mills, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was named the Baltimore Ravens' new offensive coordinator on Monday.

Kubiak was fired from the Texans with three games remaining in the 2013 season. He finished the year with a record of 2-11.

On Nov. 3, 2013, Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke while walking off the field at halftime of the team's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Kubiak was hired as the Texans' head coach in 2006 and he compiled a 61-64 record. The 52-year-old led Houston to the playoffs twice.

Prior to joining the Texans, Kubiak was the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 1995-2005.

Kubiak will try to turn around a Baltimore offense that ranked 29th in the NFL in total yardage last season. He replaces Jim Caldwell, who left to become coach of the Detroit Lions.

Kubiak is bringing Rick Dennison with him to be quarterbacks coach. Dennison served as Kubiak's offensive coordinator for the past four years in Houston.
