Description: Chicago starter Chris Sale spun a one-hit shutout Sunday against Los Angeles.
Insight: Mike Trout had the Angels' lone hit of the night, a one-out single in the seventh inning. Sunday was Sale's second complete game and his first career shutout.

4/18/2013 9:53:00 PM
Description: White Sox left-hander Chris Sale held Toronto to four hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, but he took his second loss of the year.
Insight: Sale has thrown three strong performances of seven innings or more and three runs or less, but his one bad start -- 4 1/3 innings, eight hits, eight runs his last time out -- makes his ERA 4.50 for the season. If you can somehow convince his owner that he's struggling, go for it.

4/1/2013 8:47:00 PM
Description: White Sox ace Chris Sale limited the Royals to just seven hits over 7 2/3 shutout frames in Monday's season opener at U.S. Cellular Field.
Insight: Sale faltered late in the season last year (4.03 ERA after the All-Star break) but that's to be expected for a pitcher in his first year as a full-time starter. Now that Sale has that first year out of the way, he should be good to go in 2013. His next start is Sunday against the Mariners.

3/7/2013 4:19:00 PM
Description: White Sox lefthander Chris Sale agreed to a five-year, $32.5 million contract extension on Thursday.
Insight: That's a bargain compared to the coin Los Angeles forked over for Zack Greinke this past offseason. Sale successfully made the transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation in 2012, collecting a team-high 17 wins in 30 appearances. Sale threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his last start Friday against Cleveland.

9/8/2012 10:01:00 PM
Description: Chicago ace Chris Sale improved to 16-6 with a win over the Royals on Saturday.
Insight: He gave up one run and five hits over six innings. Sale (2.88 ERA) had lost three out of four leading up to his start on Saturday. He'll be on the mound again Thursday versus Detroit.

8/22/2012 10:55:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Chris Sale fanned 13 Yankees in 7 2/3 innings Wednesday as part of a 2-1 victory.
Insight: Sale has struck out 36 batters in 29 innings in four starts since Chicago gave him 10 days of rest between July 27 and Aug. 6.

8/6/2012 10:49:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Chris Sale started Monday for the first time since July 27 and dominated Kansas City over eight innings to pick up win No. 13.
Insight: Chicago gave Sale an extended rest after he noticed a dip in velocity over his last two starts. It appears to have worked, as the lefty fanned seven Royals and allowed two runs on eight hits in eight innings Monday. White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Monday that Phil Humber will move to the bullpen, which means Sale will start on regular rest going forward.

7/31/2012 9:31:00 PM
Description: According to CSNChicago.com, White Sox starter Chris Sale will start on 10 days rest next Tuesday against the Royals.
Insight: Sale (12-3, 2.61 ERA) has noticed a dip in velocity over his last two starts and the team is taking action to limit his innings and get him some rest. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable starting him Tuesday.

7/30/2012 7:15:00 PM
Description: According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, White Sox manager said Monday that starter Chris Sale likely will make his next start in 5-6 days.
Insight: Sale (12-3, 2.61 ERA) has noticed a dip in velocity over his last two starts and the team is taking action to limit his innings. Sale will be working on 7-9 days rest in his next start since he hasn't pitched since July 27.

7/29/2012 7:34:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Chris Sale has noticed a dip in velocity in his past two starts and will likely be given some time off as the team integrates Francisco Liriano into the rotation, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Sale (12-3, 2.61 ERA) allowed five runs in each of his last two starts and may be experiencing a dead arm. The White Sox have enough starters with Jake Peavy, Gavin Floyd, Jose Quintana, Phil Humber and Liriano that they can afford to give Sale an extended rest. He'll likely be given a rest similar to the one he received earlier this month, when he didn't start until July 15 after taking the hill on July 3.

Hot6/22/2012 10:52:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Chris Sale bounced back from his worst start of the season his last time out with eight shutout innings Friday against Milwaukee. He allowed just three hits but had to take a no decision against Zack Greinke.
Insight: Sale (8-2, 2.24) gave up five runs against the Dodgers in his last start, the only time this season he's allowed more than three runs in a start. He got back to business Friday. The only thing that can seemingly stop Sale now is if his elbow tenderness becomes an issue again as his inning total climbs.

Hot6/9/2012 9:35:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale stayed hot with another excellent performance Saturday against Houston. The tall lefthander struck out seven and gave up just four hits over eight shutout innings.
Insight: It was Sale's eighth win of the year and it lowered his ERA to a league-leading 2.05. Sale looks like the early favorite to start the All-Star Game for the American League next month in Kansas City.

Hot6/3/2012 6:06:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale continued to dominate hitters on Sunday. Sale improved to 7-2 by holding Seattle to two runs on five hits in the first complete game of his career. He walked two and struck out eight.
Insight: Pretty nice encore for Sale after the lefty struck out 15 Rays in his last start. Since the White Sox toyed with moving Sale to the closer role to protect his left elbow in early May, the first-year starter has gone 4-1 with a 1.87 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. Sale didn't agree with the decision when it was initially made, and it seems like he's taken his disdain out on opposing batters since he was moved back to the rotation.

Hot5/28/2012 8:44:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale picked up his sixth win of the season on Monday and also finished with a career-high 15 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. Sale allowed three hits, one run and two walks during the 115-pitch outing.
Insight: He's 3-0 with a 0.92 ERA in his last three starts and has pretty much been unstoppable since the White Sox made him a full-time starter at the beginning of the season. Sale's next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Mariners.

5/23/2012 11:22:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale improved to 5-2 by throwing seven shutout innings of two-hit ball against the Twins on Wednesday. Sale walked two and struck out six.
Insight: Sale threw just 97 pitches. He's going to have to keep his pitch count down if he wants to go deep into games, as the White Sox are going to do whatever they can to protect his left elbow.

5/17/2012 7:31:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale picked up his fourth win of the season on Thursday. Sale gave up one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Insight: Sale needed 103 pitches to get through his 5 1/3 innings. The White Sox are trying to protect his throwing elbow, so don't expect Sale to pitch too deep into games, especially if he doesn't become more economical with his pitches in the early innings.

5/12/2012 11:02:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale's return to the rotation didn't go that well. The lefty gave up three runs on seven hits in five innings against Kansas City on Saturday. He walked two and struck out three.
Insight: The White Sox announced last week that they were moving Sale to the closer role to protect his tender left elbow. However, they reversed course and inserted him back into the rotation. Hopefully, Sale can get back into the rhythm that allowed him to start out 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA in his first five starts this season.

5/11/2012 6:16:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale won't be assuming the closer role in Chicago after all. White Sox GM Kenny Williams said Sale will start on Saturday after the MRI on his sore left elbow came back clean.
Insight: The White Sox announced they were moving Sale to the bullpen due to a tender left elbow, but Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune reports that Sale will start Saturday. Sale is talented enough to succeed in any role, but it would be better for fantasy purposes if he's able to focus on one job without having to worry about being shifted around.

5/9/2012 2:14:00 PM
Description: According to Jim Bowden of ESPN and MLB Network, Chris Sale is scheduled to have an MRI on his sore left elbow, White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said.
Insight: Sale was moved into the closer role last week because of a tender left elbow. The White Sox haven't ruled out moving Sale back to the starting rotation later in the season.

5/4/2012 6:15:00 PM
Description: Chris Sale is being shifted into the White Sox closer role.
Insight: Sale has been excellent in his first season as a starter, going 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 32 innings, but he has a tender elbow is needs to be taken off a starter's workload. Sale will start closing on Monday, meaning Hector Santiago can be dropped.
