McNeese State's Spencer ties return record

Nacogdoches, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - McNeese State's Diontae Spencer tied an FCS single-game record by scoring on three special teams returns in the No. 11 Cowboys' 69-38 win at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.

The senior scored on 93- and 87-yard kickoff returns as well as a 35-yard punt return. He also caught 10- and 9-yard touchdown receptions for a total of five TDs.

He racked up a school-record 365 all-purpose yards.

"Everyone did a great job with their blocking assignments on the returns and (quarterback) Cody (Stroud) was great with the passes," Spencer said.

McNeese State improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the Southland Conference. Stephen F. Austin fell to 3-7 and 1-4.
