Tennessee State QB remains suspended

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Tennessee State football coach Rod Reed said Thursday two-year starting quarterback Michael German remains suspended from the team.

German, a junior from Pompano Beach, Fla., was suspended in March after being charged with felony vandalism. He also became academically ineligible during the spring semester, but attended summer classes.

"Today, Mike cleared one obstacle in getting back on the field. However, he still has a long way to go in order to be a member of the 2013 squad. He will not be on the field for the foreseeable future and is still suspended," Reed said.

German and former TSU defensive back Joseph Johnson were charged with doing several thousand dollars worth of damage to a car by dancing on its roof in March.

Tennessee State finished 8-3 last season. German threw for 2,751 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
