Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Ka'Deem Carey ran for 119 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries to lead the Arizona Wildcats over the Colorado Buffaloes, 44-20, in a Pac-12 Conference matchup at Folsom Field.
B.J. Denker threw for 265 yards, with a score and an interception on 21-of-32 passing and added career-high 192 yards rushing on 15 carries for the Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 Pac-12). Daniel Jenkins added 87 yards rushing on nine carries. Nate Phillips pulled in four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats won their second straight outing.
For the Buffs (3-4,0-4), losers of four of the last five, Sefo Liufau finished the night with 212 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception. Paul Richardson caught seven passes for 132 yards and a score. Michael Adkins II carried the ball 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run by Carey midway through the first quarter. The Buffs answered right back when Liufau connected with Richardson on a 75-yard touchdown pass just 13 seconds later to knot the score at 7-7.
Arizona's Jake Smith added a 37-yard field goal with less than five minutes to play in the first quarter. Colorado kicker Will Oliver knocked through field goals of 53 and 48 yards in the second quarter to take a 13-10 lead with 5:12 remaining in the half.
Carey recorded his second touchdown of the night on a seven-yard run, then Denker combined with Phillips on a 44-yard touchdown pass to take a 24-13 lead into halftime.
After the Wildcats tacked on a 26-yard field goal early in the third to extend their advantage to 27-13, the Buffs scored on an Adkins one-yard touchdown run and narrowed the deficit to 27-20.
Arizona closed out the meeting with 17 straight points as Carey tallied TD runs of one and six yards, followed by a 28-yard field goal by Smith to shut the door and claim the 24-point victory.
The Wildcats finished the game with 405 yards rushing, while holding the Buffs to just 137 yards on the ground. Carey, who entered the weekend leading the nation in rushing (160.2 ypg), has scored nine touchdowns and run for 485 yards against CU in their last two meetings.
