Report: Notre Dame QB Golson no longer enrolled

South Bend, IN (Sports Network) - Quarterback Everett Golson, who helped lead the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the National Championship game, reportedly is no longer enrolled at the school.

According to multiple sources, Notre Dame chief spokesman Dennis Brown confirmed the information late Saturday night. Brown cited student privacy laws and did not comment as to why the junior-to-be was leaving the school.

Golson made 11 starts for the Fighting Irish last season as a redshirt freshman and scored 18 touchdowns to help Notre Dame post a 12-0 regular season record before falling to Alabama in the National Championship.

He threw for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns against six interceptions, while also adding six rushing scores on 298 yards.

Golson's departure leaves the Irish with just three options at quarterback for the 2013 season; seniors Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix and early enrolled freshman Malik Zaire.

Quarterback Gunner Kiel, a sophomore-to-be, decided to transfer to the University of Cincinnati before the start of spring practice.

Golson had two seasons of eligibility remaining.
