GAME NOTES: Elon is the top team in the North Division of the Southern Conference, but the Phoenix enter the regular season finale against UNC Greensboro on a rare losing streak.

Following an 11-1 stretch, Elon has lost two in a row. That includes a 69-63 defeat at home against Davidson on Wednesday. Jack Isenbarger supplied 18 points with three 3-pointers for Elon. Tanner Samson and Lucas Troutman scored 11 points each, while Samson had six rebounds and Troutman blocked four shots.

A win today would give Elon its 20th triumph, marking the first time the Phoenix would reach the plateau since the 1987-88 season.

Driving the Phoenix has been Isenbarger, who is averaging 14.0 ppg, and Troutman (14. 7ppg). Ryley Beaumont (11.6 ppg) leads the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Sebastian Koch (9.5 ppg) is also in the starting lineup for a team that has been winning with defense. Elon limits its foes to 41 percent shooting from the field, which is second-best in the SoCon.

The Spartans have struggled mightily with back-to-back losses and setbacks in five of their last six games overall. They're coming off a 66-60 home defeat to Georgia Southern on Wednesday. Trevis Simpson went 6-of-18 from the field to net 19 points for UNCG. Derrell Armstrong contributed 16 points and six rebounds.

UNCG will go into the SoCon tourney as either a No. 9 or No. 10 seed, and will try to snap a six-game skid against the Phoenix. That includes a 72-66 decision earlier this year. The Spartans haven't beaten Elon since Jan. 28, 2010.

The Spartans, who have just two road wins this season, are led by Simpson's 19.1 ppg. Armstrong averages 14.8 ppg and Kayel Locke is also in double figures at 10.0 ppg. Kelvin McNeil (6.3 rpg) is the leader on the boards for a team that gives up the most points in the SoCon at 73.5 per game.

Elon hasn't lost on its home court to UNCG since Jan. 17, 2009. Since that time, Elon has won three in a row at home against the Spartans. Make it four in a row as the Phoenix enter the SoCon postseason tourney with a bye and the No. 2 seed.
