GAME NOTES: The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will play host to the Mustangs of SMU at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Wednesday night in a Conference-USA clash. SMU's Larry Brown will go up against Tulsa's Danny Manning, who played for Brown's 1988 Kansas squad that won the national title. Both are in their first year of coaching at their respective schools.

SMU most recently suffered a 74-69 loss at UAB. It was the fifth loss in the last seven games for the Mustangs. This will be the second of a two-game road swing for SMU before hosting Texas-El Paso in its regular season finale on Saturday.

Tulsa is coming off a 78-66 win over Tulane which ended a two-game slump for the Golden Hurricane. This will be the second of a two-game homestand for Tulsa before hosting the Owls of Rice to close out regular season action.

Tulsa leads the all-time series 30-13 and has won 13 of the past 15 games. In the last meeting back on Jan. 6, Tulsa earned a 48-47 win over the Mustangs in a low-scoring affair.

In the loss to the Blazers, Ryan Manuel led the Mustangs with 15 points before fouling out. Nick Russell had 14 points, Shawn Williams had 13, and Cannen Cunningham had 12 while Cunningham and Russell dished out five assists a piece. Russell also had four steals.

Jalen Jones is the squad's top scorer this season with 14.6 ppg and 7.8 rpg, while shooting over 50.0 percent from the field. Russell adds 14.1 ppg and Manuel contributes 12.3 ppg while shooting over 80.0 percent from the free- throw line. The Mustangs' are most impressive defensively, holding opposing squads to just 62.5 ppg and 39.1 percent shooting from the field.

In the win over the Green Wave, the Golden Hurricane were led by Scottie Haralson, who scored 16 points while knocking down a trio of 3-pointers. James Woodard, Pat Swilling Jr., and Rashad Ray managed 12 points each, while Woodard pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Shaquille Harrison dished out eight assists and had seven rebounds.

Woodard posts 11.8 ppg and 5.7 rpg for Tulsa, while Swilling contributes 10.7 ppg and Haralson adds 10.1. The Golden Hurricane's biggest strength comes defensively, where it holds opponents below 40.0 percent shooting from the field.

In a matchup between two very tough defensive units, the home team gets the nod as Tulsa is 9-4 in home competition this season. However, if the Mustangs are able to force turnovers and get into an offensive tempo early, don't be surprised if they come out on top.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Tulsa 62, SMU 60
