NCAA Game Summary - Massachusetts at Siena

(Wednesday, November 28)

Final Score: Massachusetts 64, Siena 63

Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Chaz Williams hit the go-ahead layup with four seconds remaining to give the Massachusetts Minutemen a 64-63 win over the Siena Saints at the Times Union Center.

Williams led all scorers with 23 points while also recording eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals for the Minutemen (3-2). Terrell Vinson added 17 points while reserves Maxie Esho and Sampson Carter both pulled down 10 rebounds.

Evan Hymes was the leading scorer for the Saints (2-5) with 15 points but O.D. Anosike was their strongest performer with yet another double-double consisting of 13 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. Rob Poole chipped in 11 points, but shot just 2-of-12 from the floor for the hosts.

Siena took a 10-point lead into halftime, 34-24, after shooting 47.8 percent from the floor and knocking down 7-of-11 three-point attempts as they seemed to have the game under control.

The Minutemen clawed their way back in the second half and outscored the Saints 40-29 to earn the comeback victory. After Williams made the clutch layup, he recorded a steal on the other end of the floor to end any hope for Siena.

The Saints shot just 12-of-19 at the free-throw line and were guilty of 16 turnovers in the meeting.
