NCAA Game Summary - San Diego vs. Saint Mary's

(Saturday, March 9th)

Final Score: Saint Mary's 69, San Diego 66 (OT)

Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Brad Waldow poured in a game-high 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, as Saint Mary's came from behind to beat San Diego, 69-66, in overtime in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament on Saturday at Orleans Arena.

St. Mary's leading scorer Matthew Dellavedova managed just seven points, but nailed a game-tying 3-pointer with 6.3 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session.

The defending WCC tourney champ Gales (27-5) will look for their second straight title Monday when they face No. 1 Gonzaga, which handed Saint Mary's its only two conference losses of the season.

Johnny Dee donated 18 points to lead the Toreros (16-18), who had won three straight.

Saint Mary's trailed throughout the contest until Dellavedova knocked down two free throws to give his team a 51-50 lead with 5:42 left.

San Diego answered with a 7-2 swing to regain control, and after six straight free throws put the Gaels back in front, Ken Rancifer nailed a 3-pointer to make it 60-59 in favor of San Diego.

Two free throws from John Sinis gave the Toreros a three-point lead before Dellavedova's triple sent the game to overtime.

Sinis scored the first bucket of the extra session, but Saint Mary's closed the game on a 7-2 surge to end the contest.
