Beijing, China (Sports Network) - China's Xian Dongmei and Masato Uchishiba of Japan won gold medals in judo at the Beijing Olympics on Sunday.
Xian defended her gold medal from the Athens Games by defeating An Kum Ae of North Korea in the women's 52k division, while Uchishiba bested France's Benjamin Darbelet for the men's 66kg gold. Uchishiba was also the gold medalist in the 66kg in Athens.
Shortly after winning, the 32-year-old Xian announced that she will not attempt to defend her gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London.
"This is my last Olympics," Xian said. "I will make it up to my family, especially my daughter."
Soraya Haddad of Algeria and Japan's Misato Nakamura will share the bronze medal in the women's event, while Cuba's Yordanis Arenciba and Pak Chol Min of North Korea split the bronze for the men.
