Insight: That's the first day Moreland is eligible to return. Moreland has been out with a strained hamstring and could begin a rehab stint as early as Monday. Moreland (.288, 12 HR, 29 RBI) is second on the club with a .561 slugging percentage in his first 58 games.

Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.
Insight: Moreland suffered the injury during Wednesday's game. On the bright side, Texas won't have to work hard to find a spot for Jurickson Profar if Ian Kinsler returns from his rib cage strain anytime soon; Kinsler can play first base, with Profar staying at second. According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, Rangers manager Ron Washington said he expects to have Moreland back in the minimum amount of time, so Moreland might actually return before Kinsler.

Insight: Moreland went 2-for-3 Wednesday before coming out in the seventh inning. Jeff Baker has come on to take Moreland's place at first base.

6/5/2013 9:23:00 PM
Description: Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland injured his leg in the seventh inning Wednesday against Boston.
Insight: Moreland limped to second base after hitting a double and manager Ron Washington quickly put in Jeff Baker to pinch run for him. We should know Moreland's official diagnosis after the game.

Cold6/1/2013 9:45:00 AM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is a career .118 hitter (2-for17) versus right-hander James Shields.
Insight: Moreland (.285, 11 HR, 26 RBI) is struggling at the plate with just three hits in his last 18 at-bats and this matchup doesn't figure to help.

5/30/2013 10:53:00 AM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is a career .400 hitter (6-for15) versus Arizona right-hander Brandon McCarthy.
Insight: Moreland (.287, 10 HR, 24 RBI) has five hits in the just-completed three-game seies with Seattle and could be in for a good Wednesday.

7/21/2012 4:07:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland (hamstring) is expected to start a minor league rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Round Rock, according to ESPN Dallas.
Insight: Moreland (.272, 10 HRs, 25 RBIs) hasn't played since late June due to a strained left hamstring. He doesn't have much value outside of AL-only leagues.

6/22/2012 4:18:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland will miss 4-6 weeks due to a strained left hamstring.
Insight: Moreland (.272, 10 HRs, 25 RBIs) left Tuesday night's game because of the injury. He's droppable in mixed leagues if you don't have any DL spots available.

6/20/2012 6:22:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is out for Wednesday's game against San Diego because of a left hamstring strain.
Insight: Moreland (.272, 10 HRs, 25 RBIs) left Tuesday night's game because of the injury and general manager Jon Daniels says he expects that Moreland will be placed on the disabled list some time in the next couple of days.

6/20/2012 11:40:00 AM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is doubtful for Wednesday's game against San Diego with a strained left hamstring.
Insight: Since interleague started, the Rangers have mostly opted to use Michael Young at first base which leaves Moreland as the odd man out.

6/18/2012 9:22:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland won't start Monday night against the Padres.
Insight: We probably won't see much of Moreland (.276, 10 HRs, 25 RBIs) this series. Since interleague started, the Rangers have mostly opted to use Michael Young (.274, 3 HRs, 27 RBIs) at first base which leaves Moreland as the odd man out. He'll see more consistent playing time when interleague is over and Young moves back to DH.

6/17/2012 2:11:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is not in the starting lineup for the Rangers' series finale against Houston on Sunday.
Insight: It's just a routine day off Moreland (.276, 10 HRs, 25 RBIs). He'll probably be back in the starting lineup Monday night against the Padres.

6/13/2012 6:59:00 PM
Description: Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland will take a seat for Wednesday night's game in Arizona.
Insight: We were expecting Moreland (.283, 9 HRs, 23 RBIs) to see fewer at bats in interleague so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. He'll probably be back in there Thursday in the series finale.

6/7/2012 2:37:00 PM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland is a must-start on Thursday. He's a .385 career hitter in 13 at bats against Oakland starter Brandon McCarthy.
Insight: Three of Moreland's five hits off McCarthy have gone for extra bases including a pair of homers. Moreland has been on a bit of a cold streak (1-23 in his last nine games) but facing McCarthy should start to warm him up again.

Hot5/26/2012 9:25:00 PM
Description: Mitch Moreland collected three hits Saturday in the Rangers' 8-7 extra innings win over the Blue Jays including a solo home run, his eighth of the season.
Insight: Moreland has been crushing Toronto in this series. He's now 6-9 with 1 HR and 3 RBIs in his past two games. For the season, his average is up to .309, well above his career average of just .263.

5/18/2012 7:17:00 PM
Description: Mitch Moreland isn't in the starting lineup for the Rangers' game against Houston on Friday night.
Insight: It seems like kind of an odd move for manager Ron Washington to leave Moreland out of the lineup after he blasted a pair of homers in yesterday's game against the Athletics. It's very possible we could see Moreland pinch hit for a pitcher later tonight because the Rangers are playing in the National League.

5/17/2012 6:35:00 PM
Description: Mitch Moreland hit two home runs against the Athletics on Thursday, his fifth and sixth of the season.
Insight: Moreland is usually the weak link in Texas' offense from a fantasy standpoint, but he has shown the ability to get hot in the past, so he could be useful in AL-only leagues.

5/12/2012 11:45:00 AM
Description: Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland will not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Los Angeles. No injury, just rest.
Insight: Moreland has some power, 4 HR and 10 RBI this season, but frankly there are many better fantasy first basemen. However, his absence may help "Mr. Utility" Michael Young gain first-base eligibility in your league.

4/17/2012 6:38:00 PM
Description: Mitch Moreland will miss Tuesday's game against the Red Sox. Moreland had oral surgery on Monday.
Insight: Moreland was hoping to be ready for the game Tuesday after having surgery on the Rangers' off-day Monday but now it looks like he'll have to wait until at least Wednesday to see the field again. Moreland is off to a rough start this season (.150, 1 HRs, 2 RBIs).
