Insight: Napoli (.261, 7 HR, 33 RBI) has just one RBI over his last seven games and this matchup won't likely add to the total.

Description: Boston first baseman Mike Napoli exploded for three hits Sunday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Insight: Napoli (.268, 7 HR, 33 RBI) had been hitless in the series prior to Sunday. Five of his seven home runs this season have come against Toronto.

4/30/2013 10:57:00 AM
Description: Boston first baseman Mike Napoli is 2-for-14 with seven strikeouts against Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow.
Insight: Napoli is producing as fantasy owners and Red Sox fans had hoped when he came to Boston. He's batting .280 with four home runs and 27 RBI in 25 games. This matchup, however, is an unfavorable one.

Hot4/24/2013 9:45:00 AM
Description: Boston first baseman Mike Napoli is 4-for-10 with a homer and three extra base hits (1.471 OPS) against Oakland starter Brett Anderson.
Insight: The major league leader in RBI with 25 has knocked in at least one run in eight of the last 10 games. He only knocked in 56 runs all last season. He's a must start in the favorable matchup.

Hot4/22/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Boston first baseman Mike Napoli whacked a grand slam Monday in a win against Oakland.
Insight: The major league leader in RBI has driven in 17 runs over his last nine games. Napoli's batting average has increased by 64 points over that stretch (.214 to .278).

4/21/2013 10:41:00 PM
Description: Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli ripped three hits in Sunday night's loss to Kansas City.
Insight: He was a triple shy of the cycle. Napoli had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth but Lorenzo Cain caught his fly ball on the warning track. He leads the Red Sox with 20 RBI this season.

Hot4/21/2013 10:20:00 AM
Description: Boston 1B/DH Mike Napoli is 6-for-15 with three homers and two double against former Angels teammate Ervin Santana, who now pitches for the Kansas City Royals.
Insight: Napoli played for Texas for two seasons, so he got plenty of looks at Santana. The slugger had a seven-game hitting streak snapped Saturday, but he did walk twice (just his second and third walks of the season). Napoli has seven doubles, two homers and 17 RBIs in 16 games, but he has struck out 23 times.

4/16/2013 10:47:00 PM
Description: Boston 1B/DH Mike Napoli roped a pair of doubles and drove in three runs Tuesday against the Indians.
Insight: All of Napoli's damage came in the second inning, when Boston scored all of its seven runs. The slugger has fanned 18 times and walked just once in 13 games, but he does have 14 RBIs.

Cold4/13/2013 9:38:00 AM
Description: Boston 1B/DH Mike Napoli has faced Rays left-hander David Price 15 times in his career and has come away with three singles, a walk and 10 strikeouts.
Insight: Napoli is off to a slow start batting just .211 and is stiking out too much, so this matchup is certainly one to avoid.

4/7/2013 4:15:00 PM
Description: Boston 1B/DH Mike Napoli hit one of six Red Sox home runs Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: Napoli drove in four runs and scored two. He came in 3-for-23 with nine strikeouts this season but he now has two homers and seven RBIs.

2/25/2013 12:03:00 PM
Description: Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was able to do some base running on Sunday, according to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com
Insight: Napoli has decent power (20 homers or more in each of his last five seasons) but won't hit for a high average (.259 lifetime average). If he can maintain catcher eligibility, he'll be a very worthwhile fantasy selection.

2/16/2013 7:45:00 PM
Description: Joe McDonald of ESPN reports that Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli has been cleared to resume baseball activities. Napoli had an MRI on his hip earlier in the week.
Insight: Napoli has decent power (20 homers or more in each of his last five seasons) but won't hit for a high average (.259 lifetime average). If he can maintain catcher eligibility, he'll be a very worthwhile fantasy selection.

2/13/2013 4:18:00 PM
Description: Boston Red Sox catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli will have an MRI on Thursday to check out his hip problem.
Insight: Napoli was a huge disappointment to fantasy owners after posting a .227 batting average in 2012 in limited action (352 at-bats). If healthy, he's a top catcher capable of hitting 30-plus homers, but owners will have to keep a close eye on him in spring training to verify that he's physically able to accumulate 500 at-bats.

Description: Mike Napoli's three-year, $39 million pact with the Red Sox is on hold because of a hip issue, reports Fox's Ken Rosenthal.
Insight: Speculation is that this is the reason the Mariners and Rangers didn't pursue him as hard as expected. It might also explain his .227 batting average last season.

Description: Mike Napoli's three-year, $39 million pact with the Boston Red Sox could be in jeopardy. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, FOXSports.com
Insight: Boston planned on introducing Napoli Tuesday but did not go forward with the event. Speculation is that something went awry Monday with Napoli's physical since the deal is not yet official. Napoli has suffered a severely sprained ankle, a strained left quad and a strained left oblique in the past 14 months.
