Appalachian State suspends wide receiver Price
Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Appalachian State University suspended sophomore wide receiver Sean Price for an undetermined number of games on Thursday following his arrest earlier this week.
The 20-year-old Price reportedly was charged with being intoxicated and disruptive in downtown Boone.
"I'd like to say 'I'm sorry' to my teammates and coaches, (Appalachian State Chancellor) Dr. (Kenneth) Peacock and the campus and local communities for the ill-advised decisions that I made that led to my suspension," Price said in a university statement.
"My actions were ill-advised and immature and don't reflect how I want to represent my team and my school. I hope to have the opportunity to return to the field and represent Appalachian State in a positive way."
Price served a two-game team suspension in his freshman season last year. He caught 81 passes for 1,196 yards - both FCS single-season records for a freshman - and eight touchdowns in 10 games.
He was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List last month.
Appalachian State also said Thursday reserve quarterback Kalik Barnes has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities due to a violation of NCAA rules.
