Yost named Idaho State's starting QB

Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Idaho State football coach Mike Kramer has named junior transfer Kevin Yost as the Bengals' starting quarterback for their season-opening game Sept. 3 at Washington State.

Yost, a native of Peoria, Ariz., who has been on campus since January after arriving from Glendale (Calif.) Community College, beat out Justin Arias and Brad Kragthorpe for the starting job.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Yost is accustomed to the fast pace of Idaho State's offense, having thrown for 3,517 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in two seasons at Glendale.

"He has clearly demonstrated that he has the best grasp on what we are doing," Kramer said. "He is ready to go and I am anxious to watch him play."

Idaho State was 1-10 last season, including 0-8 in the Big Sky Conference.
