NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss vs. Arkansas

(Saturday, October 27)

Final Score: Ole Miss 30, Arkansas 27

Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - A 31-yard field goal attempt by Bryson Rose split the uprights as time expired to give the Ole Miss Rebels a 30-27 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks in SEC action at War Memorial Stadium.

Rose made good on all three of his field goal tries on the day for the Rebels (5-3, 2-2 SEC) as they won their second straight game. Quarterback Bo Wallace hit on 29-of-37 passes for 278 yards and a score, while Randall Mackey caught seven passes for a team-best 99 yards.

The Razorbacks (3-5, 2-3) were paced by Tyler Wilson as he converted 24-of-43 passes for 297 yards and two scores, but he was sacked three times and had a pair of passes picked off. Cobi Hamilton caught 12 passes for 146 yards and Dennis Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 161 yards and a TD as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.

Arkansas opened with a 10-point first quarter as Zach Hocker knocked through a 22-yard field goal early and then later Wilson hooked up with Chris Gragg on a 42-yard TD pass play.

The Rebels responded with three touchdowns of their own in the second frame, beginning with a four-yard TD pass from Wallace to Vince Sanders. Barry Brunetti and Jeff Scott both added one-yard touchdown runs for the visitors, but in between Wilson combined with Alex Voelzke for a six-yard touchdown for Arkansas which left the Razorbacks with just a four-point deficit at the break, 21-17.

Rose converted a 27-yard field goal with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter for the only points of that frame and then added a lengthy 53-yard effort in the fourth as well.

Between those two Rose field goals, Hocker had one of his own for Arkansas, a 41-yard conversion early in the final frame.

Finally getting the Hogs into the end zone in the second half, Johnson scored on a five-yard run and the PAT knotted the score at 27-27 with just over two minutes remaining in regulation, setting the stage for Rose's game-winner.

Arkansas finished the day with 464 yards of total offense, but the squad converted only 5-of-16 on third down and hurt itself with 12 penalties for 70 yards.
