NCAA Game Summary - Rice at Louisiana Tech

Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Colby Cameron completed 19-of-24 attempts for
276 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 56-37
victory over the Rice Owls at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Running back Tevin King also had a big night for Louisiana Tech (2-0) with 22
carries for 204 yards. Kenneth Dixon also got in on the action with
113 yards on just 14 carries and three touchdowns. Leading receiver Quinton
Patton caught seven passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
Rice (1-2) quarterback Taylor McHargue completed 20-of-34 attempts for 205
yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 93 yards on 16 carries and scored
three touchdowns on the ground. Charles Ross ran the ball 14 times for 116
yards.
Cameron connected with Patton for a 65-yard touchdown pass to start the game
with a 7-0 lead for Louisiana Tech.
The Bulldogs added on to their lead with another Cameron touchdown pass, this
one to Hunter Lee for 14 yards to go up 14-0 early in the first quarter.
After a fumble by Ross the Bulldogs continued to pull away as Cameron threw
for his third passing score, this one to Myles White for 16 yards.
Louisiana Tech lost the ball when King fumbled after a 31-yard run, which was
recovered by Rice in the end zone for a touchback. The Rice offense responded
with a 18-yard touchdown pass from McHargue to Ross to make the score 21-7.
The Bulldogs came right back with a one-yard touchdown run from Dixon on
fourth-and-goal to add on to the lead, 28-7, in the second quarter.
Ross then took the Owls down to the Bulldogs' 15-yard line with a 64-yard run.
McHargue finished off the drive with a three-yard touchdown run, but the
visitors were still down 28-14.
On the next possession, Dixon scored his second rushing touchdown of the game,
from eight yards out this time, to push the Bulldogs lead to 35-14.
Rice responded at the end of the first half with a 57-yard field goal by Chris
Boswell, cutting the deficit to 35-17.
Cameron connected with Patton for an 11-yard touchdown pass to open up the
second half to move to a commanding 42-17 lead.
McHargue then ran for a 13-yard touchdown, but Rice still trailed 42-23 after
Boswell failed on the extra point.
The relentless Bulldogs offense came right back with a nine-yard touchdown run
by Dixon, which made the score 49-23.
McHargue took the Owls into the end zone with a four-yard touchdown run to
bring the score to 49-30.
LaTech finished the game off with a six-yard touchdown run by Lee to
cap an eight-play drive by the hosts.
Rice added a late touchdown pass from McHargue to Vance McDonald for 14
yards, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs rolled to the 19-point victory.
The Bulldogs, who generated 598 yards in a season-opening win over Houston,
outgained the Owls 609 to 477 in total yards.
