Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Quarterback Alex Gillett ran for a 30-
yard touchdown with just 37 seconds remaining to lift Eastern Michigan to a
35-28 victory over Central Michigan in Mid-American Conference action at
Gillett ran for 93 yards and passed for another 76 for Eastern Michigan (4-3,
2-1 MAC), which amassed 350 yards rushing on the day. Dominique White led the
team with 161 yards and one touchdown, while Javonti Green rushed for 96 yards
and scored three touchdowns.
Ryan Radcliff threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns for Central Michigan
(2-5, 1-2), which scored 15 points in the final four minutes to tie the score
at 28. Cody Wilson contributed 103 yards on nine receptions, and David
Blackburn added eight grabs for 83 yards.
Central Michigan struck first on a 28-yard field goal by David Harman with 5:18
left in the first quarter, but Eastern Michigan responded with its first of
five rushing touchdowns of the day. White scored on a one yard touchdown run to
make it 7-3 with 30 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Harman pulled Central Michigan within 7-6 on a 40-yarder with 5:26 remaining in
the first half. Eastern Michigan scored on its first possession of the second
half after Greene broke loose for a 36-yard touchdown run, the first of his
three scores in the final 30 minutes of the game.
The Chippewas kept pace, as Radcliff put together a nine-play, 66-yard drive
that was capped when he found Blackburn for an eight-yard touchdown pass with
6:33 remaining in the third quarter.
That made it 14-13, but Greene scored on back-to-back possessions to start the
fourth quarter. His two-yard run at the 14:27 mark capped a 16-play, 80-yard
drive. Two minutes later, after a blocked punt that put Eastern Michigan in
business deep inside the Chippewas' territory, Greene scored from five yards
out to push the lead to 28-13.
Radcliff drove Central Michigan 72 yards in just over two minutes and found
David Titus for an 11-yard touchdown pass with 3:36 remaining. That cut the
score to 28-20, and following a Eastern Michigan punt on the following
possession, Radcliff drove his team the length of the field again, using a 10-
play, 70-yard drive capped by his two-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Harris with
1:09 remaining. Radcliff then hit Titus on a short pass to convert the two
point conversion and tie the game at 28.
Eastern Michigan wasted no time in scoring the go-ahead score, which took just
three plays, culminated by Gillett's 30-yard scoring run. Radcliff drove
Central Michigan down to the Eagles' 28 yard-line with just three seconds left,
but was intercepted near the goal line by Marcell Rose on the final play of the
