Muncie, IN (Sports Network)- Bernard Pierce ran for 121 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Temple Owls rolled over the Ball State Cardinals 42-0 in a Mid-American Conference game at Scheumann Stadium.

Pierce, a junior, has now scored 41 touchdowns in his career, breaking the mark set by Paul Palmer, who finished his career in 1986. Matt Brown also went over the 100-yard mark for the Owls (4-2, 2-1 MAC) with 114 yards on 15 carries. Chester Stewart was 10-of-13 for 160 yards and a score, while Joe Jones caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Keith Wenning was 19-of-34 through the air for the Cardinals (3-3, 1-1), who have lost two straight. He was intercepted twice and sacked three times. Briggs Orsbon caught six passes for 68 yards.

Temple jumped to a 7-0 lead when Stewart hit Jones with a 24-yard touchdown pass with 5:27 left in the first quarter.

Pierce scored from two yards out to give the Owls a 14-0 lead with 59 seconds left in the period.

Pierce added a pair of second-quarter touchdowns, one from four yards out and the other from just a yard out to put Temple up 28-0 with 4:35 left in the first half.

Matt Brown extended Temple's lead to 35-0 with a seven-yard run at the 10:37 mark of the fourth quarter before Chris Coyer dashed 74 yards for a score with 7:29 remaining.

Temple collected 350 rushing yards and 510 yards in total offense.
