(Friday, November 11th)

Final Score: South Florida 37, Syracuse 17

Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - B.J. Daniels threw for 254 yards and ran for another 117 yards as he led the South Florida Bulls to a 37-17 win over the Syracuse Orange in Big East Conference action in the Carrier Dome.

Daniels connected on 23-of-34 passes for the Bulls (5-4, 1-4 Big East) as they logged their first league win of the season. Daniels carried the ball 21 times and scored once on the ground as UCF rolled up 236 yards rushing and four TDs overall as they snapped a four-game slide.

Syracuse (5-5, 1-4) was paced by Ryan Nassib who converted 23-of-46 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also sacked three times in the team's third straight setback. Receiver Alec Lemon caught a total of 10 passes for 179 yards and both TDs for the hosts.

The Bulls scored the only points of the first quarter on a 29-yard field goal by Maikon Bonani.

Early in the second frame the visitors pushed their lead to 10-0 when Marcus Shaw reached the end zone on a three-yard run.

With under four minutes to play in the first half the teams put on a scoring barrage as the Orange cut the deficit to three points after Nassib and Lemon hooked up on a 10-yard scoring pass.

However, less than 30 seconds later USF struck again with a two-yard TD run by Daniels.

The teams traded field goals from there, with Syracuse kicker Ross Krautman knocking through a 28-yard effort and Bonani hitting a 46-yard try as time expired in the first half to give the Bulls a 20-10 lead at the break.

As was the case in the first quarter, the only points of the third period came from Bonani on a 35-yard field goal.

At the 5:19 mark of the fourth quarter the Bulls pushed their lead to 30-10 on a two-yard TD run by Demetris Murray, the running back adding an eight-yard scoring run with just over one minute remaining as well. In between those two TDs for the Bulls, Syracuse closed the gap slightly with a 58-yard TD pass from Nassib to Lemon, but it was too little, too late.

USF, which entered the week ranked 17th in the nation in total offense with 468.3 ypg, finished the night with 490 yards, while holding the Orange to 405 yards of offense.
