NCAA Game Summary - U-C-F at East Carolina

Greenville, NC (Sports Network) - Dominique Davis led the way with 203 passing yards and four touchdowns for the Pirates as East Carolina defeated UCF Knights, 38-31, in Conference USA action at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Davis finished the night hitting 19-of-31 passes, was sacked once and tossed an interception. Reese Wiggins led East Carolina (5-6, 4-3 C-USA) with a career-high 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns on six catches. Torrance Hunt rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. Damon Magazu anchored the Pirates' defensive unit with 12 tackles and an interception.

UCF (4-7, 2-5) was led by Blake Bortles and Jeff Godfrey, as both saw action at quarterback during the contest. The duo combined to convert 18-of-32 passes for 198 yards and three touchdown passes. Latavius Murray rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Quincy McDuffie led the Knights with 93 yards on nine catches. Clayton Geathers had a team-best 12 tackles and Kemal Ishmael had 11 and forced a fumble.

The Knights struck first as Godfrey completed a three-yard touchdown pass to Adam Nissley with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

ECU tied it up with three minutes left in the first frame when Davis threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jones. The Pirates added three as time expired in the first quarter with a 36-yard field goal courtesy of Mike Barbour.

ECU extended its lead as Davis completed a seven-yard touchdown pass to Justin Hardy at the 10:45 mark of the second quarter giving the Pirates a 17-7 lead.

The Knights cut into the lead with 5:13 left in the second period when Bortles completed a two-yard touchdown pass to Josh Reese. UCF tied the score 17-17 with seconds remaining in the first half as kicker Nick Cattoi connected on a 39-yard field attempt.

The Pirates opened up scoring in the second half as Davis completed an 84-yard touchdown pass to Wiggins that gave the home team a 24-17 advantage at the 8:41 mark of the third quarter.

UCF tied it up with 1:32 left in the third period as Murray rushed four yards for a touchdown.

ECU took the lead back with 8:20 left on the clock as Davis connected with Wiggins for another touchdown pass, this time for 10 yards.

The Knights responded with just under four minutes remaining as Bortles completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Worton that made it 31-31.

The Pirates took back the lead with 2:10 remaining when Hunt broke away for a 56-yard touchdown run that ended scoring with ECU ahead 38-31.

ECU picked up the win despite converting just 3-of-14 on third down and controlling the action for less than 26 minutes on the night.
