Final Score: Syracuse 37, Tulane 34

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Sophomore placekicker Ross Krautman connected on a 21-yard field goal as time expired, preventing yet another overtime game for Syracuse and giving the Orange a hard-fought 37-34 win over Tulane at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

Syracuse (4-2) got 111 yards rushing and one TD from senior tailback Antwon Bailey, marking the fourth time he has eclipsed the 100-yard mark this season. Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib completed 19-of-34 passes, for 186 yards and two TDs, while scoring once on the ground. Wide Receiver Dorian Graham caught both TD passes.

Tulane (2-4), which amassed a solid 471 yards of total offense, got a strong effort from quarterback Ryan Griffin, who completed 24-of-30 passes, for 320 yards and two TDs. Both touchdowns went to wideout Xavier Rush, who finished with four catches, for 135 yards.

The Green Wave got on the scoreboard first, as an eight-play, 80-yard drive was capped off by a 40-yard TD run by Orleans Darkwa.

The lead would not last long however, as Syracuse's Jeremiah Kobena took the ensuing kickoff back 79 yards to Tulane's five-yard line. The Orange would punch it on their first play from scrimmage, a five-yard TD run by Bailey.

Syracuse added a field-goal to close out the scoring in the first quarter, as Ross Krautman hit from 29 yards out, putting the finishing touches on a 14- play, 69-yard drive.

The offensive floodgates would open in the second quarter. Nassib was responsible for three Syracuse touchdowns, with passes to Dorian Graham (10 yards) and Stephen Barnett (one yard) sandwiched around a four-yard quarterback sneak.

The hometown squad made a game of it though, as Darkwa scored his second TD of the game with just under six minutes left in the first half on a one-yard plunge. The Green Wave added a 60-yard TD pass from Griffin to Rush with 2:11 remaining in the half and adding a 42-yard field goal by Cairo Santos as time expired, cutting Syracuse's lead to 31-24 at the break.

Tulane got the only points of the third quarter with a 49-yard field goal by Santos at the 4:13 mark.

Krautman converted a 32-yard field goal to give the Orange a 34-27 lead with just over four minutes left in the game, but Tulane would tie things up a minute and a half later, with another long TD, a 58-yard touchdown pass from Griffin to Rush.

Bailey took over on Syracuse's final drive, accounting for 44 yards (23 rushing), setting up Krautman's field goal to win the game.

Three of Syracuse's first six games have gone into overtime.
