Oxford, OH (Sports Network) - Isaiah Pead ran for a pair of touchdowns to lead
the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 27-0 victory over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in non-
conference action at Yager Stadium.
Pead carried the ball 18 times for the Bearcats (4-1), gaining 49 yards for
the visitors. Quarterback Zach Collaros contributed with a game-high 89 yards
rushing on 15 attempts, while also converting 16-of-30 passes for 251 yards
and a score. Under pressure, Collaros was sacked three times and tossed a pair
of interceptions in the decision.
The RedHawks (0-4) were paced by Zac Dysert who connected on 19-of-33 passes
for 252 yards, but was sacked four times and threw one interception for a
program that was credited with minus-three yards rushing on 38 chances. Nick
Harwell had a strong day for Miami as he recorded his third straight 100-yard
receiving effort with six catches for 149 yards.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Collaros led a short 41-yard drive in the
second quarter which culminated with a 30-yard scoring strike to Travis Kelce
to give the visitors a 6-0 lead at the break following a failed PAT.
In the third quarter the Bearcats pulled away as Pead registered scoring runs
of three and four yards and JK Schaffer recovered a fumbled punt and took it
into the end zone from 17 yards out to complete the lopsided victory.
Miami, which entered the weekend ranked 118th in the nation in rushing with a
mere 66.3 ypg, converted just 3-of-17 on third down on the day.
The RedHawks own a 59-50-7 edge in the all-time series between the programs,
but Cincinnati has now taken six straight encounters, all by double digits.
