NCAA Game Summary - Duke at Virginia

Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Michael Rocco threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Virginia Cavaliers to a 31-21 victory over the Duke Blue Devils in ACC action at Scott Stadium.

Virginia (7-3, 4-2 ACC) added 165 rushing yards in the game, and it was Kevin Parks who led the way with 78 yards.

Sean Renfree threw for 303 yards and one touchdown against Virginia, but he also tossed an interception. Juwan Thompson also rushed for 30 yards for Duke (3-7, 1-5), but he scored twice on the ground.

The lone score in the opening quarter came from Virginia, as Rocco hit Jeremiah Mathis for a six-yard touchdown pass.

Seconds into the second quarter the Blue Devils evened the score when Renfree connected with Donovan Varner for a 64-yard scoring strike.

Duke took the lead later in the half when Thompson plunged into the end zone on a one-yard run.

The Cavaliers were able to send the game into the break tied at 14 apiece, thanks to Rocco's second TD of the game, which was a 38-yard pass to Kris Burd.

Less than two minutes into the second half the Cavaliers went back on top, thanks to a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown by Chase Minnifield.

The game was tied back up just minutes later after another one-yard score by Thompson.

Virginia responded with 10 unanswered points, beginning with a one-yard touchdown by Perry Jones. The lead for the Cavs was boosted to 10 after a 29- yard kick by Robert Randolph.

The defense did the rest, holding the Blue Devils scoreless through the final frame, en route to the win.
