Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Colin Kaepernick accounted for four touchdowns, as
the Nevada Wolf Pack routed the Colorado State Rams, 51-6, in a non-conference
matchup at Mackay Stadium in Reno.
Kaepernick threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-29 pass attempts,
while also leading the way with 161 rushing yards and a two more scores on 11
carries. Vai Taua added 118 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for Nevada
(2-0), which kicked off its season with a 49-24 win over Eastern Washington.
Pete Thomas threw for 194 yards and an interception on 23-of-36 tosses for the
Rams (0-2), whose losing streak now sits at 11 games.
The Wolf Pack wasted little time taking control, as they scored the first 17
points of the contest. Anthony Martinez first hit a 31-yard field goal before
a 44-yard touchdown run by Kaepernick, who capped the scoring spurt with a 29-
yard touchdown pass to Tray Session.
A 40-yard field goal by Ben DeLine got Colorado State on the board late in the
Nevada went right back to work early in the second quarter when Virgil Green
pulled in a 15-yard scoring strike from Kaepernick.
Taua added a four-yard touchdown run late in the first half and Martinez gave
the Wolf Pack a 34-3 halftime advantage on a 33-yard field goal with three
Midway through the third quarter Kaepernick scampered eight yards to paydirt.
The two teams then traded field goals before Nevada capped the game's scoring
with a late 21-yard touchdown run by Stefphon Jefferson.
Nevada rolled up 631 yards of total offense, including 376 on the ground.
