NCAA Game Summary - U-C-F at Buffalo
(Saturday, September 18th)
Final Score: UCF 24, Buffalo 10
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Ronnie Weaver rushed for 49 yards and the
Knights two offensive touchdowns to elevate UCF over Buffalo, 24-10, in a non-
conference showdown at UB Stadium.
Quarterback Jeffrey Godfrey connected with seven different receivers on 15-
of-24 passing, good enough for 130 yards in the win for UCF (2-1).
Buffalo (1-2) was led by receiver Marcus Rivers who caught seven balls for 102
yards in the loss. Jerry Davis converted 15-of-31 passes for 190 yards and a
score, but was also picked off twice in the setback.
This was a low-scoring affair out of the gate, as the only points in the
opening quarter came from the leg of UCF kicker Nick Cattoi who booted a 39-
yard field goal, putting the Knights up 3-0.
Buffalo answered back in the second quarter with a field goal of its own as
A.J. Principe converted an attempt from 27 yards out, tying the game at 3-3.
The Knights then took a 10-3 lead into the half as Bruce Miller returned an
interception thrown by Davis for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Davis righted himself in the third stanza as he hooked up with Terrell Jackson
for a three-yard touchdown strike, capping a 14-play, 80-yard drive knotting
the game up at 10-10.
The score remained that way through the third quarter until UCF broke the tie
as Weaver ran for a 14-yard touchdown and a 17-10 lead for the Knights. Weaver
wasn't done there as he found pay dirt once again, this time on a one- yard
rush, providing UCF with insurance and a 24-10 advantage.
The Bulls ran the ball 49 times on the night, only averaging 2.8 yards per
carry as they were handed the defeat.
