NCAA Game Summary - Western Michigan at Bowling Green

Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Alex Carder threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns as the Western Michigan Broncos posted a 41-7 win over the Bowling Green Falcons in Mid-American Conference action at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.

Carder completed 23-of-33 passes for WMU (6-6, 5-3 MAC) as the squad closed out the season on a three-game win streak and became bowl eligible for the third time in the last five years. Tevin Drake ran for a game-high 127 yards and a touchdown as well.

The Flacons (2-10, 1-7) were paced by Matt Schilz who converted 19-of-31 passes for 282 yards and a score, but he was also sacked three times and intercepted once on the afternoon.

Western Michigan ripped off 27 straight points to open the meeting, beginning with a 42-yard field goal by John Potter early in the first quarter. Carder then combined with Blake Hammond on a four-yard TD pass play to push the lead to 10-0. Before the period could close Potter added a 25-yard field goal.

Within the span of less than minute in the second quarter, Carder posted scoring passes of four and seven yards to Dareyon Chance and Dallas Walker, respectively, to make the score 27-0 at the break.

In the third quarter Bowling Green finally put some points on the board with a 19-yard TD strike from Schilz to Kamar Jorden, cutting the deficit to 27-7.

Unfortunately, the Broncos went right back to work as Drake raced into the end zone on a 35-yard run and Carder's 34-yard pass to Juan Nunez also crossed the goal line with less than a minute remaining in the period.

With a scoreless fourth quarter WMU celebrated with the resounding 34-point victory on the road.

BGSU generated a solid 396 yards of total offense, but the squad converted just 2-of-13 on third down.
