Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Chris Polk found the end zone on a one-yard
plunge as time expired to lift the Washington Huskies to a thrilling 16-10
victory over the California Golden Bears in a Pac-10 battle at Memorial
Jake Locker threw for 237 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the
win for Washington (5-6, 4-4 Pac-10), while Polk added 86 yards on the ground
to go with his decisive touchdown. D'Andre Goodwin caught five passes for 126
yards and a score as well for the Huskies, while Jermaine Kearse grabbed six
balls for 77 yards.
Shane Vereen ran for 106 yards on 23 carries to lead the way for California
(5-7, 3-6) in the losing effort. Brock Mansion had a rough day under center
for the Golden Bears, completing 12-of-23 for just 92 yards with no touchdowns
and one interception.
The Golden Bears broke a scoreless game as time expired in the opening half,
as Giorgio Tavecchio connected on a 53-yard field goal.
The Huskies earned a 7-3 lead early in the third quarter, as Locker found
Brown with an 80-yard completion.
