Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Kellen Moore was 17-for-21 passing for
247 yards and two touchdowns, as the eighth-ranked Boise State Broncos crushed
the Bowling Green Falcons, 49-14, in non-conference action at Doyt L. Perry
Doug Martin tallied 116 yards and a score on 13 carries for Boise State (4-0),
which won its eighth straight road game. Jeremy Avery added 92 yards and a
score on 12 carries, while Titus Young had a pair of rushing TDs. Jarvis Hodge
also had a touchdown run. Austin Pettis and Richie Brockel had a scoring
reception each in the win.
Tyler Sheehan racked up 137 yards, a TD and two picks on 16-of-29 efficiency,
and also ran for another TD for Bowling Green (1-3), which hosted a top-10
team at Doyt L. Perry Stadium for the first time ever. Adrian Hodges had the
TD catch in the setback.
Neither team managed any offense in the early part of the first quarter, and
Boise State got the ball with about 1 1/2 minutes left at its own 41. Young
ran in an 18-yard score to cap the four-play, 59-yard drive as the Broncos
took an 8-0 lead on the first play of the second quarter following the two-
After Bowling Green was forced to punt, Moore hit Tommy Gallarda for a 28-yard
strike and then Brockel for 16 yards before Martin trotted in a 34-yard TD run
to make it 15-0 with just over three minutes elapsed in the second quarter.
Sheehan had a pass intercepted on the next Falcons play, which led to Young's
25-yard touchdown scamper. The one-play drive gave BSU a 22-0 edge with about
12 1/2 minutes left before the half.
Pettis hauled in a 17-yard TD pass late in the half to make it 29-0 at the
Avery's 71-yard TD run on the Broncos' second play of the third quarter gave
the visitors a 36-0 advantage. Sheehan fumbled deep in Falcons territory on
the very next play and Brockel hauled in a two-yard scoring catch to give the
Broncos a commanding 43-0 lead.
Bowling Green closed it to 43-7 via an 80-yard, 13-play drive that was closed
out by Hodges' seven-yard TD grab midway through the third. After a BSU
three-and-out, Sheehan had a six-yard TD scamper to make it 43-14 heading
into the fourth frame.
Hodges' one-yard TD run and a botched extra point accounted for the final
Boise State outgained Bowling Green, 529-282...Saturday's tilt marked the
final non-conference opponent for Bowling Green as it awaits the arrival of
Mid-American Conference member Ohio University next weekend...Boise State won
both previous meetings against the Falcons. Last year's 20-7 victory at home
in the second game of the season was the lowest regular-season scoring output
for the Broncos since defeating Wyoming, 17-10, in 2006.
