Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - B.J. Daniels completed 20-of-34 pass attempts for
304 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 22 times for 141 yards and two
touchdowns to lead the South Florida Bulls to a 34-22 win over the Louisville
Cardinals in Big East play at Raymond James Stadium.
A.J. Love was Daniels favorite target, making four catches for 121 yards.
Moise Plancher contributed to the Bulls (7-3, 3-3 Big East) rushing attack,
carrying the ball 17 times for 68 yards and a score.
The Cardinals (4-7, 1-5) were paced by Adam Froman, who completed 20-of-35
passes for 232 yards and a touchdown. Scott Long led the Louisville receiving
corps, hauling in six passes for 96 yards and a score.
South Florida got on the board early in the first quarter, when Daniels hooked
up with Dontavia Bogan for a 16-yard touchdown to give their team a 7-0 lead.
The Bulls made it a 14-0 game in the final minute of the first quarter, when
Plancher rumbled into the end zone for a two-yard score.
Louisville answered the call early in the second quarter, with a 37-yard
field goal by Chris Philpott.
The Cardinals went right back to work on their following drive, as Froman and
Long connected for a 20-yard touchdown strike, to make it a 14-10 game.
Louisville took the lead minutes later when Trent Guy returned a punt
60 yards for a touchdown. However, the extra-point was blocked giving the
Cardinals a 16-14 advantage.
The Bulls regained the lead on the final drive of the first half, when Eric
Schwartz drilled a 22-yard field goal to give the Bulls a 17-16 lead at the
break.
South Florida scored on the opening drive of the second half, marching the
ball 80 yards, before Daniels ripped off a 20-yard rushing touchdown to give
his team
a 24-16 advantage.
Schwartz extended his team's lead minutes later, with a 44-yard field goal.
The Cardinals responded on the opening drive of the fourth quarter, when
Darius Ashley scored on a 17-yard run. The two-point conversion was no good
leaving the Louisville with a 27-22 deficit.
South Florida put the final nail in the coffin midway through the fourth
quarter, when Daniels scored on a one-yard run to give his team the 34-22
victory.
South Florida dominated the Cardinals, outgaining Louisville 538-313 on the
day.
