NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico at Texas A&M

College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Jerrod Johnson threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third as he led the Texas A&M Aggies to a commanding 41-6 win over the New Mexico Lobos in non-conference action at Kyle Field.

Johnson converted 31-of-41 passing for 349 yards for the Aggies (1-0), while Jeff Fuller reeled in a game-high 10 passes for 111 yards and a score for the home team. Johnson also ran the ball 13 times and finished with 57 yards, second behind only Christine Michael who generated 93 yards and a score on 11 attempts.

The Lobos (0-1), under new head coach Mike Locksley, were paced by Donovan Porterie who completed 29-of-40 passing for 210 yards, but he was also sacked five times in the setback.

A 16-yard touchdown run by Johnson put the Aggies on top and accounted for the only points in the first quarter. Kicker Randy Bullock knocked through field goals of 22 and 34 yards in the second frame, while Cyrus Gray made his way into the end zone on a 13-yard run for Texas A&M to give the home team a 20-0 advantage.

Just before the half could end, James Aho booted a 19-yard field goal for the Lobos, capping an 11-play, 63-yard drive to make the score 20-3 at the break.

In the third period Michael contributed a two-yard TD run for the Aggies and Johnson hit Fuller with a seven-yard TD pass for A&M. In between, Aho knocked through a 48-yard field goal, leaving the hosts with a 34-6 edge heading into the final period.

The only scoring in the fourth came when Johnson combined with Kenric McNeal on a 44-yard TD strike.

New Mexico finished the night with a mere 21 yards rushing, compared to 245 yards for the Aggies. Texas A&M was allowed to run a staggering 90 offensive plays, resulting in 606 yards of total offense.

With the win A&M now leads the all-time series by a count of 3-0 over the Lobos.
