NCAA Game Summary - Alabama at Ole Miss

(Saturday, October 10th)

Final Score: (3) Alabama 22, (20) Ole Miss 3

Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Mark Ingram racked up 172 rushing yards and the game's lone touchdown on 28 carries as third-ranked Alabama downed 20th-ranked Ole Miss, 22-3, in an SEC clash at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Leigh Tiffin added five field goals for the Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0 SEC), which saw quarterback Greg McElroy go 15-of-34 for 147 yards in the victory.

"Mark Ingram did a great job of gaining 100-plus yards against a very good defense team. Leigh Tiffin was perfect on the field goals and did a good job kicking off. This is probably the most complete team win we've had all year," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Jevan Snead was limited to 140 passing yards on 11-of-34 completions and was picked off four times for the Rebels (3-2, 1-2), who have dropped two of three. Snead led all Ole Miss rushers with 44 yards while Brandon Bolden caught four passes for 76 yards in defeat.

Tiffin's 25-yard field goal late in the first quarter put the Tide ahead, and he drilled field goals of 21 and 22 yards in the second for a 9-0 Alabama edge.

Ingram sealed a 61-yard 'Bama drive with a 36-yard run for a touchdown on the sixth play of the series inside the final minute of the half for a 16-0 game.

Ole Miss finally got on the board midway through the third quarter on Joshua Shene's 25-yard make but Tiffin was good from 21 yards out and the visitors took a 19-3 edge to the fourth.

Tiffin hit from 31 yards out to complete Alabama's first drive of the fourth quarter for a 19-point edge, and the Crimson Tide defense wrapped up the victory by halting the Rebels on their final three series.

"Very few people score points against Alabama. The bottom line is, you've got to come out with three points, seven points, (every drive) you've got to get something," lamented Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt. "If we had scored one touchdown, then our defense goes to another level. We ran into a real wall today."
