Conway, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jalen Cannon tallied 22 points and nine rebounds as the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers bested the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 68-62, in a consolation matchup of the mainland portion of the Maui Invitational at the HTC Center.
Brent Jones also had a double-double for St. Francis (3-3) with 11 points and 10 assists, while Sheldon Hagigal added 10 points of his own.
For the still winless Golden Grizzlies (0-6), Travis Bader poured in 30 points on 9-of-23 from the field, including 6-of-15 from 3-point range. Corey Petros chipped in 13 points and Kahlil Felder dished out nine assists.
St Francis shot just 37.5 percent from the field in the first half, but Oakland was even worse at 26.9 percent, as the Terriers went into the halftime locker room with a 29-20 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies kept the game close throughout the second half and even tied it up at 62 on a Bader jumper with 56 seconds remaining, but Cannon converted a three-point play on the other end to put the Terriers up for good.
St. Francis won the rebounding battle, 37-31, and outscored Oakland at the foul line, 21-13.
