Rams QB Bradford out for season

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford will miss the season after an MRI revealed he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Saturday's exhibition game against Cleveland.

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed the news during a Sunday press conference.

It is the same injury that sidelined the former No. 1 overall draft pick for the Rams' final nine games last season.

"For Sam personally, it's devastating," Fisher said.

Bradford went down on the game's opening drive after throwing an incomplete pass. He was pressured and hit high by Browns defensive lineman Armonty Bryant.

Bradford completed 4-of-9 passes for 77 yards before departing.

Shaun Hill is now the Rams' starting quarterback.

"We move forward as a football team. Shaun is our guy," Fisher added.

Fisher believes Hill is "ready for the opportunity" and added that the veteran "has a great feeling for the offense."

Hill, 34, last started a game for Detroit during the 2010 season.

Fisher also said that cornerback Trumaine Johnson will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks with a knee injury.
