Cardinals sign Abraham, Winston
Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms on Thursday with linebacker John Abraham and tackle Eric Winston.
Abraham's deal is for two years while Winston's is for one, with no other terms being disclosed.
Abraham is the NFL's active leader in sacks with 122 and totaled 10 last season with Atlanta.
A 13-year veteran, Abraham has been named to the Pro Bowl four times since being selected 13th overall by the New York Jets in the 2000 NFL Draft.
In 175 games with the Jets and Falcons, he has 590 tackles, 44 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. He has had seven seasons with double-digit sack totals and set a career-high with 16 1/2 in 2008 with Atlanta.
Winston, 29, started all 16 games at right tackle for Kansas City last season, anchoring a unit that led the AFC in rushing with 149.7 yards per game. He has started 103 straight games and has played in 108 over seven seasons in the NFL.
Also on Thursday, the team released linebacker O'Brien Schofield, signed linebacker Kenny Rowe and placed wide receiver Ryan Swope on the reserve/retired list.
Swope was one of the Cardinals' two sixth-round picks in 2013 as the team took him 174th overall out of Texas A&M. He set school records there with 252 catches for 3,117 yards while finishing second with 24 touchdowns.
However, he has been suffering from concussion related issues he suffered in college, and it was decided to place him on the list after he had setbacks during early rookie workouts.
