Insight: Chicago hasn't been able to solve its closing situation, which makes it all the more amazing that Sale is 8-1. The left-hander has a 2.08 ERA, a 0.84 WHIP and a 102/16 K/BB in 95 innings this season.

Insight: Sale has allowed 23 hits and walked seven batters in his last 19 innings (1.58 WHIP). However, he still has a 2.30 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP in 78 1/3 innings this season. The left-hander has thrown at least 100 pitches in six straight starts, which is a good sign after he missed five weeks with an elbow injury.

He was expected to make one more rehab start but the team reconsidered because he was so dominant in his first and looked great in his bullpen session this week. Description: White Sox lefty Chris Sale fired 7 2/3 shutout innings Saturday in a no-decision against Detroit.
Insight: Because it's the White Sox we're talking about, the Tigers ended up winning 7-6 in extra innings. If the sabermetricians had their way, Sale (2.97 ERA) would probably be the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young. Unfortunately for Sale, his 11-13 record will probably prevent him from winning the award.
