Final Score: Buffalo 41, Kent State 21
Kent, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Branden Oliver rushed for four scores and 185 yards for the Buffalo Bulls, who claimed a 41-21 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes in a Mid-American Conference brawl at Dix Stadium.
Oliver had 31 carries in the contest for Buffalo (6-2, 4-0 MAC), which was more than Kent State (2-7, 1-4) had as a team. Joe Licata threw for two scores and 285 yards on 20-of-31 passing. Alex Neutz brought in three of those passes for 75 yards and a touchdown while Fred Lee had 72 yards on six catches.
Colin Reardon threw for 260 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-32 passing for Kent State but he was also picked off twice. Trayion Durham had 57 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while Dri Archer had 70 yards of total offense and a touchdown.
A rather uneventful first period featured just a single score on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Licata to Neutz.
The second quarter got off to a much faster start as Durham scored on a five-yard touchdown run for Kent State. Then, less than two minutes later, Oliver pushed the Bulls back ahead with a five-yard scoring run of his own.
Oliver scored again, just before halftime, this time on a 17-yard touchdown run.
It was Oliver once again in the third quarter as the Bulls extended their lead to 27-7 on a 38-yard touchdown run from their senior running back.
Oliver wasn't done however. Later in the third quarter Oliver scored on a four-yard touchdown run to push the Bulls even further ahead.
Kent State finally put an end to Buffalo's scoring streak when Archer scored on a 17-yard touchdown run.
Tyshon Goode would score from 18 yards out on the ground to pull the Golden Flashes a bit closer.
However Licata kept the Bulls scoring machine humming as he threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Devon Hughes less than a minute later.
